Inbox Repair Tool

Without warning, a few days ago Outlook 2000 stopped working after
downloading a bunch of incoming mail. I got the message to run the Inbox
Repair Tool. When I try to do that, I get a message about SCNPST32.dll
missing. This has crippled my business as we are entirely dependent on email
facilities. HELP!

Try Detect & Repair from the Help menu.

Outlook's PST may have corrupted due to the size of the PST. Outlook 2000 is
an older client and the default maximum PST size is 2 GB. However, the PST
can corrupt by about 1.5 or so GB.

I know Outlook 2000 is an old version but it's where all my records are,
hundreds of contacts, files, etc. Which Help menu are you referring to?
Outlook will not open at all.

MS Outlook 2000

I didn't start SCNPST32.Exe , don't know what it is or where to find it.

When I attempt to open / run the repair tool, I get message that SCNPST32.dll
is missing.

I give up in despair. If I buy a new version, say 2003 or 2007, will I still
face the same problems? Will a newer version save / recover my existing data?

Have already done all that -about a dozen times but no luck. I'm sure it's
a simple thing for somene who knows what they're doing but me, I'm just a guy
going gradually up the wall!

When you do a search for scanpst.exe, are you actually double-clicking on the
file to run it? Or are you trying a different method?

Do you have your Microsoft Office install CD, just in case?
