Inbox repair tool

my outlook.pst file crashed and when trying to use the Inbox Repair
Tool/scanpst.exe I get the message:

c:\program files\common files\system\msmapi\1033\outlook.pst does not exist

any ideas?

You must point it to the correct location of your pst-file. I doubt that it
is on the location you just indicated.

list?

well it is obivous I do not know where that is or I would have listed it. I
have not moved it. So since you seem to be an expert on MS Outlook perhaps
you could tell me where it might be???

Exact steps depends on your version of Outlook which you did not post.
How did you get informed to run scanpst.exe? If it was by starting Outlook
it will also tell you the location of the file that is causing you the
issues.
You can find all your linked pst-files and their location by going to
Control Panel-> Mail
Another option is to use Search. When doing a search make sure you include
hidden files and folders.
