Inbox Organize by color error message

I get the following error message when I attempt to organize my inbox by color:
Microsoft Office Outlook has encountered a problem and needs to close. We
are sorry for the inconvenience.

It sends the error report and restarts Outlook, but still won't allow me to
use that feature. What could be causing this?
 
I have the same problem, only when trying to organize by color. When I choose
the category I want the color to apply to I get the same error as the
previous poster mentions. What can be done?
