Inbox: family emails goes to Deleted items but no rule setforthis

I have not set any rules, yet emails from my family and friends go straight
to the Deleted Items folder. Spam comes into the Inbox regularly but emails
I want to receive go to the Deleted Items.

If you turn off the Junk Mail processing does it make any difference? You
might need to add family addresses to the Safe list
