inaccessible boot device

I have this blue screen with the above message and one of the corrective
action is to do 'chkdsk /f' How do I do this? Is this the same as xp, boot to
recovery console. Need your guidance please, thank you

Found the provedure but when I type in at C:\> "CHKDSK /F" without quotes, it
give a message "The parameter is not valid"
Then I tries 'CHKDSK /R', it tend starts checking the volume. I am quite
sure that I did not misread the original message and asked to do 'chkdsk /f'
What is the difference between /f and /r ?
Anyone can enlighten this, thanks
