Inaccessible Boot Device

D

Donald Miller

When booting up getting "Inaccessible Boot Device", I have
restarted with boot disks and attempted to format drive C:
as NTFS, unsuccessful.

THis is a Dell Lattitude CSx laptop. I don't know whether
to keep trying or just buy another Hard Drive and install
the knew Drive.

I have been able to get to the C:\WINNT prompt, attempted
to format drive...I thought the format worked but when I
rebooted with my Win2K CD in the Rom drive I got
another "Inaccessible Boot Device" error..

Any suggestions!

Thanks, Donald

Try removing and reattaching the drive cables, sometimes
the connections build up crud, if no joy, replace the
drive.

I had same problem on IBM laptop, removed the drive and
put it back in, all works "well" again. Just needed
reseating.
