In Word how do I turn off the formating popup menu that appears?

In Word 2007 after selecting a popup menu appears to format the selected
text, and it gets in the way when draging and dropping. How do I turn this
feature off?

Go to Office button > Word Options > Popular and uncheck "Show Mini Toolbar on
selection".
