in print layout view only first page is shown

Strangest thing-
When using word 2003 and typing my document in print layout view when I
reach the end of the first page the second page does not show, but if I then
go to normal view the rest of the document is there...
Has anyone come across this before, and if so how can I continue to type
beyond the first page of the document using print layout view?
Many thanks,
Chris

Plenty of people have experienced this before, and luckily we know how to
fix it but still have no clue exactly what causes the problem in the first
place. The solution is to go to Format | Columns and click on the preset
picture for One (even if 1 column is already selected). This will result in
checking the "Equal column width" box. For some reason Word sometimes gets
confused and thinks you have more than one column and Column 1 is full
margin width, which of course leaves nowhere for any remaining columns to
go.

Try this, it may work:

Go to Format > Columns, choose the "One" icon (even if it's already selected),
make sure "Whole document" is selected at the bottom, and click OK.
