In Power Save Mode

I have Windows XP and my monitor will not get out of
Power Save mode. I move the mouse and type, but the
monitor does not get out of the power save mode. The
video card and the monitor are working fine. I have a
Dell Dimension desktop that is 3 months old and I talked
with the Dell technical support and they said it is the
operating system with the problem. We went into safe
mode, but could not get into normal mode. We also tried
to do a repair and it got stuck on the repair screen.
Have you heard of this problem or do you have any
suggestions on how to fix it?

Typical response from a tech support person who is not qualified to
operate a computer much less provide technical advice. They always
blame it on the operating system if they don't know how to fix the
problem.

If the machine was able to operate from safe mode that means there is
a driver that is not working right or is not ACPI compatible. When
in safe mode, only generic drivers are loaded. You need to check for
MS certified drivers for your video, sound, and any other device you
have in your machine. Network card, modem, router, wireless devices,
etc.
