Using windowsXP. I created a document, added to it over the course of 2
days. Had to cut-off computer to get the printer to work (used start button)
thought Improved doc should have auto saved because stayed on screen for
hours. When computer cut back on, Document recivery pane was displayed.
Asked me if I wanted to recovered doc to revert to original orto save both
the original and recovered document. I think I said revert to original so
now I can't get Improved doc anywhare-tried the complete search process.
Also thought I saw in recycle bin. Clicked on, it then on "do you want this
to go back to where it came from - lost all in recycle bin. I need improved
Document back Thanks for any input

You had every opportunity to save or retrieve your document, and you blew
them all. A document is not saved unless *you* save it. The amount of time
it's displayed on the screen has nothing to do with it (see
http://word.mvps.org/faqs/general/AutomaticSave.htm). If you had closed Word
in a normal fashion, you would not even have gotten the AutoRecovery backup,
which would have saved your bacon if you hadn't thrown it away. And if you
found the file in the Recycle bin, the best approach might have been to have
used Copy to copy it to a document folder. Chalk this up to experience and
resolve in future to save early and often.
