You can only open a site live on a remote server, if the server has the FP
extensions installed.

If the remote server doesn't have the FP extensions, then you need to use a
FTP application to download the web into a folder on your HD, then open this
folder in FP.

If you have use themes or shared border or FP Include Page or FP navigation,
you will need to re-apply them.

Hi

I have imported my webs using newweb/import option without any problems
until I got pc cleaned out, am running xp and frontpage 2000, now the
thing wont work, I can open them live, but I like to keep copies of them on
my hard drive, anybody any clues ?

Dot
ps can only certain webs live, my ntl or tripod webs wont open at all live ?

Hi Thomas

Im assuming tripod and ntl dont have frontpage extensions, do you mean
download a program like cute ftp to get it on my hard drive. Oh I got half
of my ntl website downloaded, but it left a lot out and I did make sure that
I had not limited the size ? Tripod wont let me do anything. Any ideas

dorothy

Yes, like cute FTP. However if you publish a site to a server that doesn't
have the FP extensions, then the configuration info for themes, shared
borders, FP navigation is not available, since there are not extensions on
the server to create this info.

So if you loose your local structure or copy, you have to redo your
navigation, and re-apply themes and shared borders.
