Importing tables into Access database

How do I import more than one table at a time. When importing Access allows
me to choose only one item from the import window.

It provides another choice: Select All. And to get really wild it
implements the normal Windows behavior of allowing you to hold the CTRL key
to select additional items. I didn't check but I believe it will also
select all items between the first one selected and the next thing you
select when you press the Shift key and hold it.
