I have a .pst file from another computer and wish to import into my Outlook
2003 but error out says it is not a .pst but it is....what is wrong.

I copied the file to my desktop and then tried the import.

Using Outlook 2002 on two PC's I just copy the file back and forth. I don't
bother with importing. You could see if you could just copy it to the
folder of the other PC?

Importing is never the correct way to access a PST file. Just open it. If
you cannot, then tell us how you created and transported this file so we can
tell you how you corrupted this file.

I exported the file as a pst and then burned a CD. Copied the file to the
new computer and tried to import.

You should use Export and Import only with non-Outlook files. You may
end up with a corrupted PST file if using Export/Import. You will most
likely lose some information in the process.

Just copy the original PST file (best to zip it to keep its original
attributes). If you burn a PST file directly onto a CD, you will make
it read-only. Remove the read-only attribute once it is back on a HD.
