Trying to import old notes files from Outlook 2003 into 2007 but when I try
to open from disk it says "file access denied. you do not have permission
required to open the file" and when I try to import it says "not a pst file".
I think I may have originally saved the files as excel.

Well, it's hard to go on a hunch here. You'll have to look it up whether it
is an Excel (xls) file or an Outlook data file (pst) as it makes all the
difference.

Roady,

The files have pst extensions now but I think I changed them from xls
extensions. I tried to import them as xls files and it says the files are
not xls.

So they are pst? If the file is stored on a CD copy it to your computer and
remove the "Read Only" file attribute. Then use File-> Open-> Outlook Data
File... to see its contents in Outlook.
