Importing MS Publisher Website

K

Kelley

Is it possible to import a MS Publisher website into
FrontPage? I already completed my website in Publisher,
but want to recreate it in FrontPage as well.

Any suggestions?
Thanks.

This is NOT a good idea ... Publisher is a desktop publishing program not a
web authoring program! Even though you can save pages as HTML Publisher does
a very poor job of making web pages, often making big images, bloated code
etc. If you want to work correctly you will start over in FP and use the
better and more productive way! Why did you begin in Publisher, I wonder?
It's too bad if Microsoft encourage this faulty approach. If you are serious
at all get Jim Buyen's book FP Inside/Out and get started the proper way.
Sorry to rain on your parade.

I understand and will start from scratch in FrontPage.

The only reason I bought MS Publisher is because I thought
I could make an attractive website that would be easy to
do. So after spending hours doing that and posting it to
the web, I found out that IE Browser for Macintosh do not
support Publisher websites. Hence, my subsequent purchase
of FrontPage, which I should have purchased in the first
place had I known about Publisher's limited capabilities.

The browsers support them but they are goofy pages...don't use Publisher its a waste of time.

Although Publisher isn't the best for creating websites, it IS phenomenal at
creating newsletters, flyers, business cards, wedding announcements and
thank you cards (just finished printing mine), etc.

Don't sell the program short - it's a great program when used for it's
intended purpose.

absolutely...you wouldn't believe some of the print stuff I've produced with Publisher! and if you output to .pdf it's a piece o'cake to take it to a print house.
Not only is outputting to .pdf great but it's wysiwyg and you don't have to worry about screens, knockouts and other annoying print techy stuff. Seriously.

Amen to that! I love using a .pdf for my newsletter. I can use funky fonts
and don't have to be concerned that my printer doesn't have that font. Plus
I publish the resulting .pdf file in my website for members of my
organization to view the region newsletter online. Smaller file size, no
platform or application software issues - Life is good. :)

the only 2 things that drive me nuts are...acrobat is selfish with memory and won't close down after an online pdf session, and they can be a pain to edit (and I don't know why some of them can be edited with Acrobat and some not)

ah well..
