I am attempting to import my e-mail from Outllook Express 6 on an older PC
running XP. My new PC is Vista Home and trying to get my old e-mail into
the new Microsoft Mail program.

I ran Windows easy transfer and it imported my SENT ITEMS, but none of my
INBOX items. I've tried repeating the process several times and even
performing the IMPORT function manually via Windows Mail.

Any insight on how I can get my INBOX mail items moved over?

Thanks!

In this news group section, ("windows mail and contacts"), do a search for
"importing outlook" - take a look at the thread there under "can I open
Outlook mails in windows mail" - I am in the same process you are- this info
I think will work for us-

Actully, I solved my own problem. It was kind of a convoluted way to do it,
but here is what I did;
1.) On my old XP PC, Create a new mail profile for Outlook 2003 and import
mail into Outlook 2003 from OE6.
2.) On my new Vista PC, create an Outlook 2003 profile and copy the
Outlook.pst file from the old XP PC to the new Vista PC.
3.) On my new Vista PC Vista, open Microsoft Mail and Import mail from
Outlook 2003!!

It was a messy way to do it, but hey -- IT WORKED!! :)
(Obviously, this only works if you have the Office CD software to install
Outlook.)

That's the long way...
All you had to do was copy the OE .dbx files to the Vista computer, and
import them.

Dave, how do you copy OE.dbx - on a CD or with migrating cable. And where do
you import this file, to Windows mail? there are no contacts there. Can
you be more specific.
