importing into outlook 07

K

KayeC

I have an inbox folder that I copied from outlook 2003 and a sent items folder.
How do I import these into Outlook 07? These 2 folders are located in
documents.
Thanks for any help. KayeC

You'll need to be more accurate in your posting. You cannot copy Outlook
folders. You would never use import to transfer Outlook data.
State what you did more accurately. State what you want to do more clearly.

You dont, Import that is.
If these folders are outlook data files you open them within outlook, ie
File>Open>Data File.....browse to the location.

These files are .msg files and I am unable to file>open>data file. Any other
ideas? Thanks. K

Try this;
Open both Explorer & Outlook
Select the msg. files in explorer and copy them, paste to the desired
location in Outlook

We still have no idea what you did, but since you cannot save individual
folders in Outlook, it is unlikely you have that data. You can only save the
entire data file in which the folders reside.

In WIndows Explorer, select all the messages intended to the Sent Items
folder and drag them to the Sent Items folder in Outlook. Do the same for
the messages you want in Inbox. You may lose data, however.

Mr. Valentine:
If I had the vocabulary to make what I did clear to you I probably wouldn't
need to ask you questions in the first place! Perhaps you would be happier
answering questions for more experienced users. KayeCf

Thank you DL and Mr. Tillman: This idea worked for me and I didn't seem to
lose any data. I appreciate the assistance. KayeC

There is no "vocabulary" required. Just an accurate description of what you
did. You said you "copied" an Outlook folder and that it has an .msg
extension. That is not possible. You did something else, but we can't tell
what you did.

Generally to save OL data, for use on another system you simply copy, with
OL *closed* the data files.

Thanks for letting us know it worked. If the purpose of your copying
Outlook messages to MSG files was to back them up, may I recommend that you
use a better practice for saving Outlook data?

If, however, you had another purpose, post that purpose here and perhaps
someone might be able to suggest a more efficient method for that as well.
