Importing into a table

Ok here is my problem. I can import my data via a macro and it works
perfectly to import it into a new table. The problem is with all my queries
etc on my database i need it to be imported/update my current table. When i
import it straight into that table it doesnt take into account any of the
changes. So far the only way i can get it to work is to import it into a new
name via the macro, then rename the table to my existing tables name and
overwrite it. Is there any way i ant just import it straight into my original
table (excelfile is its name) and it automatically makes the changes to the
data inside? I'm importing from excel .xls

Any help would be appreciated
