Importing from Outlook Express

I tried to import archived emails and contacts from my old computer which
uses Outlook Express into my new computer which uses Outlook 2007. I have
been unsuccessful so far and followed the steps suggested in Microsoft's Help
section. The issue seems to be that the help section assumes I have Outlook
Express loaded on my new computer, which I don't. Is it possible to download
and install Outlook Express on my new computer, which has a Vista OS? My old
computer with Outlook Express had Windows XP.

Any suggestions for other ways of getting my contacts and archived emails
into Outlook??

Vista doesn't have Outlook Express - it has Windows Mail and News. You need
to import your OE data into that first, and then export from there into
Outlook
Copy the OE message store directory to a local directory on the hard drive
and make sure no files are read only. The directory must contain
folders.dbx. Then use File | Import | Messages in Windows Mail and point to
that directory. See also www.oehelp.com/backup.aspx
