Importing from a 2003 frontpage generated web page to a 2002 formated server

I'm not sure I'm in the right place to ask this question. The school server
utilizes FrontPage 2002. When I purchased a copy I didn't realize that it
was a different version [2003]. I have been using the 2003 version to
publish to a flash drive and them importing it into the school's web page.
Lately I've tried to expand make more complex web pages using layers to
separate text boxes and inserting pictures. When I publish them to the flash
drive everything look great when I look at through Internet Explorer 6.0.
Now comes the problem, when I import the page to the school web the layers
and pictures are arranged quite differently. I can reorder them using the
schools FrontPage 2002 and save them. However, when I look at them through
the Internet explorer, they are back the same way. When I published them I
believe I used the option that would allow any version of Internet Explorer
or Netscape to view them. Do I have a 2003 vs. 2002 formatting problem, or
is there some "trick" I missed in the publishing [2003] and importing
{2002}?

Thanks for your time

.
I believe that your problem is "importing." The Import
function should only be used for importing, say a pdf into
a Documents folder on the site. Otherwise Publish.

As Chuck said, use Publish, not Import, when dealing with an entire web.
Import is for individual pages and files that do not need any interaction
with FP extensions.

Your problem will be easier to diagnose if the pages could be seen (is there
a public URL?), but are likely to be caused by a combination of Absolute
Positioning (used by the layers) and different browser window sizes. Does
changing the browser window size change the layout?

In general, layers should not be nested in any other HTML element (td, div,
p, etc.) else problems arise with positioning and different browsers.

Thanks for the help. I think the problem occured when I tried to use layer.
I'm importing pages or folder into the school's existing webpage. You can
check out what I'm taking about at
1. www.saintmaryschool.net

2. Middle School

3. Subject

4. Science

5. Science Fair

6. Update

Sometimes the site becomes unstable if you attempt to short cut to a
patiular page.

Again, thanks for the help. I'll try and correct the problem and repost it
on Monday afternoon
