Importing files

I am running 2.1 and cant import mpeg-4 (.mp4) files. Can anyone help?????

John - I am going thru your site (very good). These .mp4 and some other
videos (.3gp) were captured on a mobile phone using the latest 3g network
technology in Australia. They will play in Quicktime but I cant import into
moviemaker - probably a lost cause. merry xmas
