Importing excel lists into the contacts template

I dwonloaded the contacts template and now I want to bring in a contact list
I have in Excel. I keep getting an error message when I click "finish" on
the wizard. What is the porblem?

There is no message. It simply states that it can't import the data because
of an error-unspecified. I changed my excel data design and format to
compare to the template design format, but it still wouldn't let me import.

Is this a problem with all data imports?

Only with Excel data imports?

Only with THIS Excel spreadsheet import?
