Error in importing from excel

Hi,

I'm trying to set up a simple import from Excel 2002 into Access 2002
database that is identical to the Contact Management template. I am able to
move through the import wizard smoothly, but when I hit "Finish", I get the
following error message:

An error occurred trying to import file <FILE NAME>. The file was not
imported.

I've tried experimenting with modifying different fields in the Excel file,
but to no avail. Any idea where the error is?

Create a brand new Excel workbook and put some simple column headings and a
couple of rows of data in it.
Can you import it to a new table?

Then create another new workbook and copy the data from the one you are
hving trouble with and Paste Special, Values only. (Access does not like it
when there are formulas in the data.)
Can you import this to a new table?

Finally, try importing to the existing table.
