importing contacts

I am trying to import my contacts to the safe senders
list in Outlook 2003. I 'export to a file' the contacts
folder but when I try to import it to the safe senders
list it will only accept '.txt' files, which is not an
option when creating a backup in the export utility.

Any thoughts?
