I am importing contacts from Goldmine via Excel and one of the features we
frequently use is an account identification so we can run filters to
segregate certain contacts. Is there a field in Outlook 07 that would be
comparable to import this data into?

You can make new fields in Outlook and determine their Proerties (eg is it a
Text, Currency, Date field)

That's going to work well as your users will be accustomed to the name of
the field.

Field Chooser, click New... and make a new field before you import.

That's great. Can I run filters in Outlook to pull out contacts based on
these fields I have created?

You can make Filtered Views. And keep them for future use.

Turn on the Advanced Toolbar as the best stuff is hidden on it..

Learn to use the Group By Box and Field Chooser. Also on the Bottom of the
Current View window, you'll also find Define New View. You can make
filtered ones based on any field and more than one criteria. Have a
practice, if you stuff it up, you just delete the View you made and start
again. No harm done.

You won't have as much flexibility as GoldMine (Outlook's NOT a CRM system)
but will be able to do some key things if you do them the Outlook way ;)
