importing contacts to public folder

How can I import contacts to a public folder distribution list?
If I go to file-import-file- I only get the option to import it to my
contacts and not the public folder.

IMport to your Contacts folder, then copy to the public folder and add manually to the DL (which is a lot more trouble than I'd go to; I'd skip the DL)
