Importing Contacts from Outlook to Access

I cannot import Contacts from Outlook into Access. I am told that I need
Outlook or Outlook Express (which I have) or Exchange, and that I need access
to my email account, which I have. Where am I going wrong?

I don't know what you may or may not be doing wrong since you haven't
mentioned what you're doing.

To import from Outlook:

1) Open a database in Access

2) Go to File|Get External Data|Import...

3) In the "Files of type" box choose Outlook() or Exchange()

4) Expand (click the +) Address Books then Outlook Address Book and choose
the desired address book

5) Click Next and choose the destination for the information

6) Click Next and make any necessary adjustments to the fields

7) Click Next and set the primary key for the table

8) Click Next and set the desired options on the last page as appropriate
then click Finish

It's at stage 3 that I get the message referred to, and cannot progress
further.

Outlook must be your default email program (not Outlook Express)
