importing audio files

I purchased a Napster card to download music and want to use part of it in a family photo slide show in MM2. However MM2 won't let me import the music. Is there another way or do I have to download illegally to get it in a format I can import? Below is the erroe message MM2 displays.

The file C:\Documents and Settings\Owner\My Documents\My Music\Cyndi Lauper - Girls Just Want to Have Fun [Album Version].wma is protected using digital rights management and cannot be imported.

Hi there,

I've had similar problems and settled for "a real good
microphone" -- a bit awkward, but it beats "the system"
everytime.

Also, this should be a part of everyone's toolkit
(especially if you're into sound effects, etc) -- super
intuitive to use, reasonably comprehensive, and free:

Hi there,

The error message shown says it all. You appear to have digital rights
management turned on in the program that downloaded the music....you need to
turn it off and you may have to download again to get rid of the licence.
If you are not given the option to turn off DRM then use a program that will
let you turn it off Music Match Jukebox is such a program

Hi there,

The problem is caused by having the Digital Rights Manager turned.
Turning it off will solve the problem.

Napster says MM will not support DRM files, but Window media player will. Is there an upgrade for MM that will support these files? I don't want to have to strat over with another movie maker type software.

Hi there,

That's correct MM does not support DRM, if you think about it its
obvious why...MM creates a file that can be sent anywhere given to
anyone...making DRM somewhat defunct. I rather imagine that any of the
popular and probably most of the less popular will not be able to unlock the
DRM, so in that respect you are rather stuck.

Disabling the DRM would seem to be the solution, unless you have a
recording option similar to the one that's comes with Creatives Live !
5.1...the card is irrelevant here its just the software function that's of
immense use. It allows the recording source to be set to "What you Hear"
this method completely negates DRM.
