importing appointments sent by e-mail to the outlook calendar

I don't have an exchange server. And really don't need one. But this is what
I am trying to do. If some one sends me a e-mail with an apointment attached
to it. how do I import it to my calendar. Then have it work with reminders
and all other functions.
 
Either double click the attachment or drag the attachment to the calendar
and select your preferred response to the meeting request.
