Importing and Exporting pst files

I'm trying to import a pst file to Outlook 2002 from
Outlook 2003 and an error message says not compatible.
Is there any way to make this work without upgrading to
Outlook 2003 on both computers?

Any and all suggestions are welcome.

Create a new Outlook 97-2002 pst-file in Outlook 2003 and export to it.
