Imported pst data disappearing

I copied an outlook 2003 outlook.pst file to a trial version of 2007 on
a temporary computer. I used it for the duration of the trial and then I
purchased a new laptop with office 2007 licensed. I over wrote the default
outlook.pst on the new laptop with the one from the trial. However I wanted
my contacts and calendar from the OLD 2003 outlook which I was keeping
updated. So I exported the calendars individually and the contacts to a pst
file. I then opened all of the individual pst files on the new outlook 2007
laptop.
All looked fine at first and I thought I was good. But then all of the
data disappeared from my contacts and individual calendars. The entries were
there, for the calendars, but all of the data wasnt. I recopied the pst
files into the directory again, and re-opened. But they keep losing their
data.
Does anyone know why this is happening? Also, what would be the best
way to get my data from the old 2003 outlook to the new 2007 outlook? I
opted to copy as individual pst files for cleaner backing up and restoring,
etc. Is there a better way?? I would listen to all ideas and suggestions.
Thanks. John

Overwriting an existing data file can cause corruption
It is not neccessary to locate your copied data files in the default
location
Importing / Exporting native OL data can cause problems.
Copy origonal OL data files to a suitable location on your HD, eg Documents
Within OL, File>Open>Data File........browse to the location & select the
data file
Again within OL copy data from origonal to new, if neccessary.
You have the option to leave the old file open or close it

Wrong thing to do. You've probably corrupted your mail profile.

Unless you have some kind of process (like a PDA sync) that is doing this, I
can't think of anything that would cause it.

See this for one way to migrate from one PC to another:
http://www.slipstick.com/emo/2002/up020605.htm#movetonew2002 . It's written
for OL 2002, but it applies to other versions as well. See this also:

Thanks, guys, I am a little bit confused, but I will try to figure this out
with your suggestions. Brian, you said I may have corrupted my file. How do
I fix it???

Corrupted Profile, with Outlook closed, use the mail applet in the control
panel to create a new one - dont copy old - add the data file & accounts

No I didn't. I said it corrupted your mail profile. Apparently you didn't
look at the links I included, either, because one of them includes
instructions for repairing the profile.
