import works file

I need to import a database file from MS Works. The access help file gives
me some rudimentary instructions, but I don't find a works file type in the
import table window. I'm not sure the provider of the file is savvy enough
to 'save as' access or comma-delimited file. I'd appreciate any ideas.

There is no direct import to my knowledge.
(Copy/paste might work.)

You need to export the Works data to ASCII or .dbf format and then import
that.

Try importing into excel. You can then go from there to ms-access...
