Convert dates while importing?

I need to import a comma delimited text file into an existing Access table.
The dates in the text file are in YYYYMMDD format and I want to convert them
to date/time format during the import. Is this possible?
Also, is there any way to edit an import spec via the Access menus?
I'm using Access 2000. Thanks.

After you select the CSV file to be import and the next Wizard dialog screen
appears, ckick the "Advanced" button and you will get another screen where
you can select the data format as well as save the Import Spec.

The import is being done via VBA code not by using the menus. I guess I
should have said that.

You need to do this once to the stage I mentioned simply to save the Import
Spec. After this, you can use the Import Spec in VBA.

I am not aware of any way of creating Import Spec using VBA.

Maybe, John's method is easier for you.
