And in what format did the Real estate application export the data?

after following instructions on how to export out of Top Proudcer (real
estate program I am trying to eliminate) it took me to Microsoft Excel, but I
could not save anything from there

So do you have all your contact data now in an Excel workbook?
but I could not save anything from there

Not quite sure what you mean by that.....

after exporting from Top Producer a window appears that says: IE blocked the
site from downloading for security reasons. Then it says click here. when I
click it opens the contacts in Excel. From there I don't know what to do.

Save the Excel file. Then you have two options - 1) import in Outlook direct
from the Excel file you have saved. (In this case you need to name the data
range). If you don't know how to do that, then 2) do a Save-As a CSV file
and import that.
But before you import from either, create one contact in Outlook and export
that to an Excel file so you can compare the fields. (It's much easier to do
it that way than to try to map the fields on import...)

GORDON!!!!!!!! I LOVED this suggestion about exporting a contact into
Excel!!! Top Producer and Outlook do not play well together at all and it's
very difficult to figure out how to map them.....but if we bring in the
fields from O/L it should be relatively painless. I teach OL and used to
teach Top Pro and still have a lot of my clients asking how to do the
import/export thing.....Thanks to you I can help make it simpler for them.
