Import Spreadsheet Wizard not working

I am trying to import an EXCEL file into a new table and want to be able to
tell access which fields to index and which ones to ignore. However when I
get to the step where I sould be able to select field options as I move my
cursor/mouse over the field names the field name in the select field section
will not change. If I manually try and change it the the first field name is
changed. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Access and that did not solve the
problem so I am stuck. Any Advice?

Hi, CJ.

It means you're at the wrong service pack level for Microsoft Office. You
didn't mention which version of Access you have installed. If you have
Access 2002, then you need to install a hotfix to fix the problem caused by
installing SP-3. If you have Access 2003, then you need to install SP-1 at
a minimum. You may not want to install SP-2 (which removes the ability to
update linked spreadsheets) or SP-3 (which just came out this week and has
some inconvenient bugs in it).

If you have Access 2002, then please see the following Web page for the
hotfix information:

Sorry. It won't uninstall. That's by design.

The Web page I gave a link to earlier contains a link to the following Web
page, with a phone number and many links to Microsoft's various tech support
categories:

http://support.microsoft.com/contactus/?ws=support

When you contact Microsoft's tech support, ask for the hotfix for Access
2002 SP-3.
