I exported my messages which I have in organized in
different folders to a file inbox.pst and then saved it
to a CD. I then saved the file on my harddrive of the
reformatted computer. I am now trying to import the
messages. I saved it as a pst file, but when I try to
import it, says it is not a pst file.

Any suggestions on how to open or import it?

Thanks,
Dave

Did you remove the read-only attribute after putting it on the HD?

This is one of the big reasons that people in this group advise other to NOT
export/import whjen dealing with PSTs. PSTs are Outlook's native file
format and do not have to be exported or imported to move between Outlook
instances.

Go back to your original machine, if you can, and COPY the PST to a CD.
Then take it to the second PC, copy it back to HD, remove the read-only
attribute, and use File>Open>Outlook Data File to open it. It _will_ open
correctly in that case.

information service must be defined prior to use"

Try using Control Panel>Mail to add in the "Personal Folders" service to
your profile.
