I just started using Access 2007 (used 2000 for many years) and I'm getting
an error when I try to import anything other than Access files. The error is:

'|' is not a valid name. Make sure that it does not include invalid
characters or punctuation and that it is not too long.

I've tried importing just simple Excel files that I know don't have that
character and I get the same error message. Any ideas?

this is just a guess ; ; but consider not importing the excel - but instead
link to it. then whip up a MakeTable query using it as the source....

not a fix nor an answer but maybe a work-around....
