Import data missing?

Hi everyone-
I have migrated a user from an older version of Outlook, exported each of
the message folders out to removable media (thumb drive) and imported them
using the import/export wizard.
When the messages are imported, everything comes over fine except for the
date. Of course you can imagine the sorting problems that result.

Is this normal, and if so is it possible to aquire the full message
including the date using another method? I used both tab and comma delimiter
methods. I get more options with tab, but still no date.

You should have exported to a .pst file. But why did you go through this
process at all?

Importing will change the date to the imported date. It's best to not
export/import at all. Upgrading Outlook properly preserves all existing
items exactly as they should be. For backup purposes or to move to another
machine, if the entire PST will fit on the thumb drive, just copy it there
(with Outlook closed, of course) and then, on the other computer, copy the
PST to that HD and in Outlook, click File>Open>Outlook Data File to open the
moved PST. If the entire PST won't fit on the thumb drive, use multiple
PSTs, copying them one at a time between the machines using the thumb drive.
Always avoid export/import when working with PSTs between copies of Outlook.

Long story about why I did it this method.
New computers, old and dirty network, executives didn't want to wait for
intended rollout date.
Wince. Answer phone, provide otherwise needless technical support. Use
SneakerNet. Repeat.

I will try the PST file, thanks for your insight and happy holidays.
Assuming the PST file takes the contacts, message folders, rules, etc... with
it as well? I will look it up on the KB.
