Import Data from Excel

N

Nicole

Hi,

I'm trying to import data from Excel into Access by going to File > Get
External Data > Import and selecting the Excel file. I checked the box next
to "First row contains column headings" and I get a message that "first row
contains some data that can't be used for Valid Access field names." I hit ok
and continue on to hit Finish and get an error message that my file cannot be
imported.

I checked the Access table and the columns match exactly the columns in my
Excel spreadsheet.

Please Help

Hi Nicole

Can you give some detail about the excel file you are trying to import?
Can you import other different excel files or do they give the same error
message?

There is no simple answer to your question. We have to go step by step until
we find the answer.

Nicole,

Are you importing to a table that already exists? If so, does it have
fields with unique indexes? If so, and the data you are trying to import has
those same index values, it would generate an error similar to this.

Like Jeanette says, it could be a number of things, please explain exactly
what you are doing?

Thanks
