Implement Emacs keybindings in MSWord.

For that matter, why can't Word be more like emacs with the easily created
multiple-window views of the same file (split vertically, horizontally,
whatever you want). Macros in emacs are SO quick and easy to write, I use
them constantly, I HATE the method for recording and using macros in Word.

Oh no not the imfamous EMACS flame war!
To add some oil... ;-)

EMACS : Eight Megabytes And Constantly Swapping
EMACS : Escape Meta Alt Control Shift
EMACS : Eventually malloc()s All Computer Storage
EMACS : EMACS Makes A Computer Slow

If you want a *real* editor, use vi. If you want EMACS, you know where
to get it!

And now serious: you are comparing a Unix/Linux based console text
editor/IDE framework/kitchensink with a Windows GUI WYSIWYG word
processor. That's like comparing a corkscrew with a pig. Your
suggestion/complaint is equally valid for OpenWriter, AbiWord, Corel
WordPerfect, Lotus WordPro, or any other software of that genre.

In short: your suggestion tells us a lot about your apparent (lack of)
intelligence. Now please go back to the gutter from whence you crawled!

well... flame wars are fun of course... but I'm only asking for a couple
features to be implemented in Word. This shows a lack of intelligence? Did
I really crawl out of a gutter this morning?

oh... vi is for people who are afraid to read the help files in emacs...

Well, I'm glad somebody got something out of all this. Obviously,
nobody else has. Has anybody else even read the original suggestion?

Your criticisms are essentially:

I'm bored.
*plonk*
