IMAP Trash Showing/Not Showing

Hi,

I'm new to IMAP, but so far it's doing what I need it to do. My problem
right now is the Trash for each of my accounts. I have about 4 email
accounts, but for each account it'll show me that I have a certain
amount of trash in it, but when I click on it to see it.. nothing comes
up!?!

I log into my webmail and I see that mail is in there, but on my Outlook
it's showing me I have trash, but not it's not showing them to me.

This puzzles me because IMAP accounts don't have trash folders. When you
delete an item in an IMAP account, Outlook tells the server to mark it for
deletion and then overstrikes the item (i.e., displays it with a line
through it). It doesn't get moved to a Deleted Items folder like POP or
Exchange accounts. What exactly are you seeing? Where is the message
displayed that you have "trash"?

It's not giving me any messages or anything.. When I added the IMAP
accounts to my Outlook I see some folders: "Inbox", "Inbox.Drafts",
"Inbox.Sent", "Inbox.Trash", "Junk E-mail" and "spam".

The "spam" folder I know that one is there because I enabled spambox on my
hosting account. The other folders are defauls created by my host. If I
log in via webmail I can see the files in my "Inbox.Trash", but not through
outlook.

The Junk E-mail folder is Outlook's addition. It shouldn't get created on
the server side unless a message gets placed in it. At least that's how it
works for me.

If this happened to me, I'd enable diagnostic logging and see if I can spot
an issue.

I've been playing around with these folders and I see that my host must
have setup special folders such as: "INBOX.Sent", "INBOX.Drafts",
"INBOX.Trash". On my webmail I see that those folder have special
icons, but any other folder that is created gets a regular folder icon.
So I tried to delete and recreate the "INBOX.Sent" folder, but it
immediately put that special icon on it. So I deleted that one and
created "Inbox.Sent" folder and it got a regular folder and my rule
works for it in Outlook.

I also realized that INBOX.Trash is probably doing the same thing and I
don't need to look in the Trash folder too often so let it be. Thanks.
