IMAP pst file

I am using outlook 2007 to view my IMAP mail. I want to change the location
of the PST file that is locally stored on my windows workstation. I see how
to change the location of the outlook file (OST), but the location of the PST
file seems to be fixed.

Can anyone help with this.

i did a forum search and tried a bunch of suggestions. they dont work. it
is AMAZING that this could be so hard. again, the ost file is easy to move,
why is it so hard to move the pst file!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Neo,

that worked initially. The file was moved, and used in the new location

However, when i rebooted the computer, the file appeared back in its
original location on C.

Unless you delete and recreate the account, Outlook should continue using
the PST in the new location.

so i put the ost and pst files on an external drive. i wanted to see what
would happen if i opened outlook without the files be on my computer. it
said it could not find them. but when i but the drive back on the computer
(local drive), outlook says it cannot find it. i tried turning off cache
mode and restarting to rebuild, but it wont forget the location of the
original ost file, which it wont stop looking for.

Now you're confusing me. The subject says "IMAP pst". OSTs don't enter
into the equation at all and I don't know why you're mentioning one.

good point, i actually tried to put ost and pst files on the external drive.
when i disconnected the drive and opened outlook, outlook had a complete
meltdown. i could not even restart outlook with the drive attached. it told
me the file was not able to be opened, and it locked the file so i could not
delete it. i had to rename the drive letter, so outlook would not find the
ost file, delete the ost file, and then rename the drive back to the
original. it seems like outlook should be able to recover from an error
without so much trouble.
