Hello,
Some of my users are using IMAP with Outlook 2003 to pull
down messages from our Exchange server. I have a couple
of questions.
First of all, is there any way to get rid of
the "personal folders" in Outlook and make the IMAP store
the default message store? Using IMAP, the personal
inbox never gets used.
Secondly, how can I make sure that sent items from these
users get stored in the sent mail folder on the IMAP
message store NOT the personal store? It seemed like
this was working fine until applying some of the latest
patches to Outlook 2003. The way things are now working
is sent mail is stored in the sent items folder in the
user's personal mailbox. I would prefer to have them
stored in the sent mail folder in the IMAP store location
and have them synchronized with the sent folder resident
on the Exchange server. That way they can access their
sent items from other locations other than their local
machine (ie: via OWA, etc.). It also gives some storage
redundancy in that I have a copy on the server and they
have a copy locally.
I thought IMAP was supposed to do things like this.
Frankly, it does using Entourage on a Macintosh client,
but not on the latest version of Outlook 2003 for Windows!
Any ideas?
Thanks,
Jon
