images rendered fuzzy in browser

Any help is greatly appreciate. Just received a new
laptop, but any images (gif, jpg) are rendered really
fuzzy in IE6. Looks as if I'm running at some really low
resolution of 8 bit color or something. Have verified
these. Am running at 1680x1050 32 bit color.

Thing is that when I right click on the image in the
browser, save it and then load it into any image editing
software (paint, paintshop, etc...), the image looks
perfect.

Everything else in the browser is rendered great and
every other image rendered external to the browser looks
perfect.

Ideas here? I'm thinking its some sort of browser
setting causing this problem. Am running Windows XP Pro
and IE 6.0.

Many thanks,

Charlie

How to Activate Scaling
Internet Explorer 6 and later automatically adjusts the scale on higher
resolution systems when the DPI setting is higher than 96 DPI and the
"UseHR" registry value is added to the registry. These are usually done by
the manufacturers of higher resolution systems.

Set the DPI
These are the steps for changing the DPI setting on your system.

Right-click the Windows desktop to display the context menu.
Click Properties on the context menu to display the Display Properties
dialog.
Click the Settings tab on the Display Properties dialog to display the
Settings tab.
Click the Advanced button on the Settings tab to display the monitor
properties dialog.
Select a DPI setting in the Display frame of the monitor properties dialog
to change the DPI setting.
Restart your system to allow the changes to take effect.

Run REGEDIT to add the UseHR Registry Entry
The UseHR value is added to the Main key under "Internet Explorer" as
follows:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER
Software
Microsoft
Internet Explorer
Main
UseHR= dword:00000001

Hope this helps,
Don

Perhaps you have the same problem as those of us with Dell
Inspiron 8500 which is a registry setting for Internet
Explorer and happens only with images in Internet Explorer.

After changing the setting from 1 to 0 for the following
key:
HKEY_CURRENT_ USER\SOFTWARE\MICROSOFT\INTERNET
EXPLORER\MAIN\USEHR

the problem has been solved for many of us.

Good Luck!!!
