Images not displaying

G

Griff

We have a web application that users have to log in to (sorry, but I can't
provide log-in credentials) and a handful of users have said that they can
not get images to display from our site, but they can on other sites.

The images display WITHIN an <A> tag, and the HTML for the image is as
follows:

<IMG BORDER="0" SRC="/folderA/folderB/imageName.jpg" WIDTH="120" HEIGHT="60"
ALT="this is a description">

The users concerned have said that they can get the images to display IF
they change IE's privacy settings from MEDIUM to LOW (the odd thing is that
it works for me and my settings are MEDIUM). They are wisely unhappy about
lowering the security setting...

We are unable to replicate the problem and are therefore unable to advise
the users on how to correct the behaviour. They are all using WinXP, sp2.
When using FireFox, it all works fine for them (but they don't want to use
FireFox).

Does anyone have any idea what could be causing this problem?

Many thanks

Griff

What happens if they simply put the site into their trusted zone?
Additionally...

I'm not sure - I've not asked the user to put our site in their trusted
zone.

The reason why I have not asked is that no one else has had to add our site
to their trusted zone. I'd prefer to identify what's odd about our site and
rectify that problem.

The vast majority of users to our site have no problems seeing the images.

Given that the majority are able to use the site without a problem it makes
me think it's an issue with the select machines which aren't able to view
the images. I'd send them the link for the image problems in hopes that they
can resolve it. As it's just some and not all it's probably not an issue
with your site but rather an issue with their PCs.

Hi,
Some ad-blocking programs/toolbars block images based on size. 120 x 60 may
be one of those sizes. I would have the users disable third-party toolbars
or other programs which might be blocking ads. Or, on your end, you might
try changing a few of the images to 119 x 58, as a test.

If you're dropping a cookie, the users could specifically allow your cookie.
Privacy setting of Medium> Edit> Always allow.

Hope this helps,
Don
