Images files in access

I have a numer of images/pictures (in different formats: jpeg, pdf etc). I
want to link them to an access database. Do I have to "create a set of image
files installed by Microsoft Office 2003?" Assuming I can figure this out,
how do I create and link this file to a new access database.
