Images blacken out

I have a strange problem. I haven't used PowerPoint for a very long time.
Using PP2002, I inserted some tiff pictures. They showed up fine but after
saving them and closing, I reopened the file and the pictures were virtually
black. One could barely see the images. Saved both as pps and ppt.

I can't figure out why this should have occurred. Help would be very
appreciated. Thanks very much. Norm.

In addition to the other suggestions, consider converting the TIFFs to PNG
before inserting them. PNG is one of PPT's "native" formats, where TIFF is
not; TIFF also permits different variants, some of which PPT may not
understand.
