image toolbar screwed up

T

when I right click on web images I no longer can save them
as jpgs, the only option now available is to save as a
bmp. Previously when I would right click on an image the
name of the image and its file extension would come up in
the save window. Now "untitled" and bmp are all that will
come up. This is a real pain as I now have to name
everything and then in photoshop resave it as a jpg if I
want to send it to anyone. This change in the image
toolbar options was done without any input from me, is
this a change that has occured in my registry? And if so,
how do I fix it and what caused it to happen in the first
place? Thanks.

Sometimes, if you right-click an image in Internet Explorer and choose Save
Picture As, the list of available types in the Save As dialog box will not
contain .jpg, .gif, or .png. It will either contain both .bmp and .art, or only
..bmp.
Here are two procedures that may fix this problem.

To empty your Temporary Internet Files cache
1. In Internet Explorer, click Tools, and then click Internet Options.
2. On the General tab, click Delete Files.

To turn off graphic compression in the AOL client
1. Go to Preferences in AOL.
2. Click Internet properties (or WWW in some versions).
3. Click Web Graphics.
4. Clear Never compress graphics (or Use compressed graphics in some versions).
