Image thumbnail and image different

I've been scanning some images via Photoshop and editing and saving (in file
number order) and on a few of them the thumbnail image in the folder is not
the same as the image itself. Double clicking on it opens up the correct
image. On each case the incorrect thumbnail being displayed is that of the
next image file (in number order).

Is this some form of XP display problem?

I'm using XP, Office 2003, Photoshop CS

Many thanks

This is related to the thumbnail cache. You can correct the thumbnail by
right-clicking on it and selecting "Refresh Thumbnail." This happens
because XP saves the thumbnail for the original image in its cache and not
the image after you have editted it. You can correct this by saving the
file under a new filename (separate from the original), or going to Folder
Options and deselecting "Hide protected operating system files" from the
View tab, then deleting the file "Thumbs.db" which will force Windows to
create a new cache for that directory.
