Image in Signature

I've been reading past threads so I know you guys must be sick of this question by now, but I'm stumped. I've followed the various suggestions but still haven't been successful

I want to insert/embed an image (my company logo), a .gif file, into my email signature. I've created the signature with the image file inserted in it using Word as the editor. The image file is in the C:\Documents and Settings\...\Microsoft\Signature directory. The problem I have is that, even though the email contains the image when I send it, the recipients receive the image file as an attachment, not in the body of the email. I've tried all the various ways of creating the signature, but still no luck

Please help :(

Does it also happen when you sent it to yourself? I assume you are sending
in HTML format? This format is not supported by all mailclients and gets
converted to Plain Text. Verify that the recipient is able to receive HTML
formatted mail.
